Pathology & Red Cross Blood Service

Pathology Workers Diana Pathology Worker

A warm welcome to all the Victorian Pathology workers from the Health Workers Union Team, headed by our Secretary, Diana Asmar (who is a Phlebotomist and has an extensive work history in this area).

The Health Workers Union has been working very hard to make sure that the workers within the pathology sector are paid decent wages and have reasonable working conditions. Unfortunately, some providers have let wages and conditions slip well below industry standards.

We will continue to fight for you to be able to access the pay and conditions you deserve – like access to training, uninterrupted lunch breaks, paid for overtime worked and to improve the culture at your workplace, amongst other things.

We can only achieve these outcomes and benefits if we unite and make our voices heard at work. History has taught us that workers have more power when they stick together.

Health Workers Union Begins Negotiations with Australian Red Cross Blood Service

The Health Workers Union has officially commenced bargaining for your new Blood Service Enterprise Agreement.

Following a review of the existing Enterprise Agreement, we have now compiled a draft Log of Claims (found below).

Your feedback is very important. We need to know what matters most to you. We encourage you to provide your feedback on the draft Log of Claims and let us know what you want included in your new Enterprise Agreement. You can do so by simply replying to this email.

We have already met with Red Cross Blood Service for preliminary discussions. The first formal meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 19 September to begin bargaining. Weekly meetings are scheduled thereafter until mid-October.

Your workplace delegates from the Blood Service are Silvia Gonzales and Anne Conde. Both myself (HWU Organiser, Ray Collins) and HWU Industrial Officer, Lisa Alcock, will be leading the negotiations on your behalf.

And remember, together we are stronger!
