VOTE YES: SPOTLESS AGREEMENT. VOTING STARTS MONDAY.
The HWU and Spotless has now finalised your next workplace Agreement. The HWU had been in lengthy negotiations with Spotless for over a year to get the best deal we can for our members.
The good news is that these negotiations have now concluded and the HWU and Spotless have come to a final Agreement. In order for the conditions and pay rises in your next Agreement to flow to you, Spotless workers must first vote in favour of the Agreement.
The HWU commends your next Agreement and strongly recommends your VOTE YES.
GOOD NEWS: PAY PARITY WITH PUBLIC SECTOR
The good news is that Spotless will match the Public Sector Agreement pay rates for the life of the Agreement and make back-payment from February 2022.
Spotless have also agreed to have the Health Professionals and Support Services Award as the underpinning Award for the new Agreement, instead of previous Agreements which had been based on the Hospitality Award.
OTHER POSITIVES
Some of the positives of your next Agreement include:
- Parental leave will now be 12 weeks (paid) for the primary carer;
- Experience payments will be included in calculating all leave types (including sick leave);
- Night shift employees will only receive a single rate – there will no longer be a ‘permanent nightshift’ rate. The higher rate will apply;
- Chef classifications have been condensed and simplified.
Spotless have not, however, agreed to an extra week of annual leave (as per the Public Sector Agreement). The HWU has pushed negotiations as far as they can go with respect to this.
VOTING FOR YOUR NEW SPOTLESS AGREEMENT
Soon, Spotless will send you information about how to vote for the new Agreement. If you have any questions about the process for voting, please speak to your employer in the first instance.
Voting starts from 12.01am this Monday 13 March and closes 11.59pm Tuesday 14 March 2023.
For your new Agreement to become law (and for you to receive your pay rise and benefits of the Agreement), the Agreement needs to be supported by the majority of affected employees. Once this happens, the Fair Work Commission can proceed to approve the Agreement.
The HWU strongly recommends you vote YES in support of this Agreement.
