THE HWU HAS NEGOTIATED MORE IMPROVEMENTS:

  • A new translation table to Theatre Technicians to clarify their classification structure and how they translate to it.
  • Increases in the “on-call allowance” rate to $30.00 from the commencement of the new agreement.
  • Increases to casual public holiday rates from 75% to 150%
  • Removing the exclusion of overtime from casual employees an including overtime penalty rates for all time workers beyond 10 hours per day or 76 hours per fortnight; and
  • Inclusion of a new “flexible working arrangements” clause.

THE FOLLOWING NEGOTIATED OUTCOMES REMAIN:

  • Superannuation paid on paid parental leave;
  • Extending the definition of shift worker to include those who are rostered on-call for 10 or more weekends a year; they will now be entitled to receive the fifth additional week of leave;
  • Access to personal leave to attend medical appointments (limited to 10 hours annually);
  • Transition to retirement clause, preserving accrued long service leave if you reduce your hours prior to retirement;
  • Five days unpaid domestic violence leave in addition to existing policy;
  • Payment for e-learning (e.g. online compulsory modules of training); and
  • Inclusion of a new Personal Care Attendant structure.

These are all improvements on your current conditions and entitlements.

THE HWU RECOMMENDS YOU VOTE YES!

You will be able to vote on the new agreement from 9am on Wednesday 3 April until 4pm Tuesday 9 April. Voting is electronic (by computer). St Vincent’s Private will provide you with info about how to vote. Speak to HR immediately if you need help. The HWU recommends you vote YES. This deal is a good deal, when compared to other private hospitals. If you vote NO, it is unlikely you will get a better deal. Your bargaining power increases when the union is strong. To increase its strength, join the union with your colleagues and stand together!
