Scope Vote Yes


Dear HWU Member,

The Health Workers Union (HWU) has been working hard to negotiate a fair Enterprise Agreement for our HWU members at Scope. A deal has been reached. As you know, the NDIS funding model limits the amount of funding available. Within the confines of this model, this proposed agreement is a good outcome for Scope workers. This proposed Agreement now needs to be voted on by ALL Scope workers. The HWU recommends you VOTE YES!


Voting for your new agreement opens at 7am on Monday, 26 August. The vote will be cast electronically and run through True Vote. If you are not sure about this process, please speak to your employer. The voting will close at 3pm on Friday, 30 August. You will not be able to vote outside this timespan. Please make sure you take the time to vote.



  • 3% from July 2020
  • 3% from July 2021
  • 3% from July 2022

Wages will be as per the Award rates and Equal Remuneration Order (ERO) with a 3% increase each year in July 2020, July 2021 and July 2022. (NOTE: If the Award attracts larger increases, then those rates will apply).


  • Minimum two hour shift length for part time and casual employees
  • A new right for part time employees to request a review of contracted hours each 6 months
  • A new right to request conversion of casual hours to permanent hours after 9 months
  • High Intensity Support: Level 2 DSW may be paid at higher level if qualified etc. and participant attracts funding
  • Paid time for employees to undertake training that is provided by Scope
  • Two supernumerary shifts for new employees
  • Up to 5 days study leave per annum provided on application
  • First aid allowance: Scope to provide employees with First Aid training an allowance of $16.51 per week (pro rata for PT and casual) if incident occurs and employee provides First Aid over requirements of participant care plan. This increases each July in line with wages
  • Telephone allowance of $10/month if Scope requires an employee to have phone for work purposes e.g. being on call (this increases each July in line with wages)
  • On Call Allowance of $19.78/day Monā€Fri and $39.16/day on weekends and Public holidays (this is included in Coordinators salaries and the amount increases each July in line with wages)
  • Scope will reimburse full cost of police check renewal every three years for permanent employees
  • Superannuation will be paid on paid parental leave and workers’ compensation
  • A new process to provide for the timely adjustments on underpayments
  • A right to have two consecutive days off per week (unless requested by employee) and at least 4 days off (24 hour periods) per fortnight.
  • Rosters will avoid:
    • Working more than 6 consecutive days;
    • Split weekends;
    • Single days off; and,
    • Not having every 2nd weekend off.
  • Sleepover allowance will be $80.00, and will be increased each July in line with wages
  • Existing sick/personal leave accruals for employees on 21 days per annum (all other employees will accrue 15 days sick/personal leave per annum).
  • Family violence leave of 15 days per annum, and
  • 8 weeks’ paid parental leave (can be taken at ½ pay for 16 weeks) for the primary carer and 2 weeks’ paid parental leave for the secondary carer.
