PUBLIC SECTOR AGREEMENT: VOTING DATES

Great news! Your next Public Sector Agreement (Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2025) has been officially approved by the Victorian Government. This Agreement will determine your pay and conditions for the next four years.

Thank you to all HWU public sector members for their patience to date. It has been a frustrating process. There is now a clear timeline for your new Agreement to be approved and for its benefits to start flowing through to our hard-working members. Dates have now been set to vote on the new Agreement.

CONFIRMED VOTING PERIOD FOR THE NEW AGREEMENT

Access Period: Thursday 24 February 2022 until Wednesday, 2 March 2022.

Voting Period: Thursday 3 March 2022 until 5:00pm on Wednesday, 16 March 2022.

Lodgement with Fair Work Commission (if vote successful): Thursday, 17 March 2022. 

Please note, next week hospitals will receive a copy of the final approved Agreement and additional documentation (including voting instructions) that they’ll provide Employees, with Employees expecting to receive that information from their Employer no later than Friday 25 February 2022.

VOTE YES FOR THE NEW AGREEMENT

In order for pay increases and other benefits within this Agreement to pass through from your employer to you, the Agreement must first be approved by the Fair Work Commission. Once this occurs, the Agreement becomes law. Your employer must pass on the pay increases and conditions within the document. 

In order for the Fair Work Commission to approve the Agreement, a vote must be taken by ALL affected by the Agreement – this includes HWU members and non-members.

For the vote to be successful, over 50% of affected employees must vote for it. Once the Fair Work Commission formally approves your new Agreement - things like pay increases and bonuses – will begin to flow through to you.

As mentioned, this vote will commence at 9am on Thursday 3 March 2022 and close at 5:00pm on Wednesday, 16 March 2022.

The HWU strongly encourages ALL public sector union members and affected employees to vote YES to the new agreement.

Both your employer and the Health Workers Union will send your more detailed information about how to cast your vote for the new Agreement.

WHO IS AFFECTED BY THIS AGREEMENT

This Agreement covers approximately 55,000 Victorian public hospital workers and will determine the pay and conditions of these affected employees – including HWU members - over the next four years. These are non-clinical roles within a hospital. Classifications covered by the Agreement include Cleaners, Orderlies, Environmental Services, Theatre Techs, Instrument Techs, Pharmacy Techs, PSA’s, Cooks, Chefs, FSA’s, Storepersons, Security Officers, IT workers, Ward Clerks, Dental Assistants, Administration Workers, Laundry hands, among many other classifications.

WHAT IS THE START AND END DATE OF THE NEW AGREEMENT

Your new Public Sector Agreement will have an effective start date of 1, July 2021 and will expire in four years (2025) from the exact date that the Fair Work Commission formally approves the Agreement.
